About

Alice Miller is a contemporary abstract artist based in Durham, North Carolina, whose vibrant work is deeply rooted in a rich artistic heritage. Born into a creative family, Miller grew up surrounded by the crafts of screen printing, sculpture, oil painting, and master quilting. She also grew up playing multiple instruments, focused on Jazz, which she believes opened her up to abstraction. These early influences instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for the power of craftsmanship, texture, and color to tell stories that transcend words.

Miller began her formal artistic education exploring graphic design and photography, earning her associate’s degree in fine art. However, it was only after graduate school and a long foray from art that she found her true calling in oil painting - and later in digital painting - returning to creating with a fresh perspective and a passion for abstract expression.

Her paintings are a celebration of bold hues and dynamic compositions, intentionally avoiding muted tones to focus on the interplay of light, color, and form. While her inspirations are eclectic and varied, Miller’s work speaks to a universal desire for exploration and discovery, offering viewers an invitation to experience art through their unique lens.

Through her evolving portfolio, Alice Diana Miller creates a world of abstract vibrancy and expressive form, continuing a family legacy of artistic innovation while forging her distinct path.
